- Bring your current insurance card to every appointment. Many insurance plans require health care providers to verify insurance benefits on each visit.
- Even if your plan name is the same, your plan specifics may have changed. Review your deductible, covered medications and durable medical equipment, co-insurance and co-pay parameters before you schedule and appointment. Know if you have a co-pay before you arrive, and be prepared to make a payment at the time of your appointment.
- Check your providers – are they still in your insurer’s preferred network? Don’t assume network parameters are the same as last year.
